“Events like this show how quickly life can change”

Beau Beech is here again with his second blog. Without a game this time, but with a lot of things to comment and share with us…

Hello there again, my friends. Although there is no game this week ? there is still plenty to write about in this week post, both good and bad. The week started with a tough defeat against our rivals Iraklis. It was a tough loss to handle for everyone on the team as we felt prepared for the game, but we didn’t execute how we wanted, which always hurts the worst in a loss. The good thing about it though is that we have a chance to learn from mistakes and correct them next week right away in the Cup game vs Iraklis again!

Next, as we were ready to hit the practice floor again Monday we got news that a teammate of ours got Covid-19 ? It was all a shock to us as we just had been tested a few days prior and were all negative! That caused us to postpone practice for 4 full days ?... let’s just say I watched enough of Netflix during those 4 days for everyone on the team ?. Besides my Netflix binge, I cooked some ?food #ChefBeech ? cleaned my apartment some (might as well right? ??‍♂️) and took a bunch of naps while my girlfriend, Emma, was back in America at her school teaching second graders. So you can say it was at least a somewhat productive week off the court for me, but I was missing the guys and practice like you wouldn’t believe! Thankfully, we got back on the court Thursday with everyone and had 2 good practices to get back into the rhythm and prepare for next weeks game!

Ohhhh but wait that isn’t it, there is still more in this wild week!!!

I got the tragic news yesterday during my nap between our 2 practices that a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Greece and turkey. Thankfully us here in Thessaloniki were all okay and not harmed. But All the damage and destruction it caused in just a split second  in those areas without warning was saddening. Events like this show how quickly life can change and that we need to cherish each moment and day with each other. All of The team and I’s prayers go out to all those effected by this earthquake!!!
