PAOK mateco in 4th place, after the loss (73-51) against Peristeri

PAOK mateco lost with 73-51 in the third and last game against Peristeri, in the series of the 3rd place Finals in Basket League. Our team conquered the fourth place in the final standings of the League and that was a fact that happened after 5 years.

Our team went to Athens with a lot of problems going on, because besides the absence of Christos Saloustros, Jordan Sibert and Diamantis Slaftsakis was absent as well. The last two of them were available but their back problems didn’t let them compete.

The absences and the former losses, didn’t allow our team to give the battle that it was needed. PAOK mateco was behind in the game (24-19) in the first quarter, managed to reduce the deficit in one point (28-27) in the half of the second quarter (15’) but didn’t make a shot until the end of the first half. Afterwards, Peristeri made a 12-0 run and went ahead with a 13-point difference (40-27).

In the second half, PAOK mateco reduced to 40-31 but the hosts still had the lead and the control, while they created a double-digit difference (50-39) until the end of the third quarter. Peristeri maintained the over 10- point lead throughout the fourth quarter and managed to win the game and gain the third place in standings.
